With the highest single-day spike of 2,137 COVID-19 cases, Delhi's tally of coronavirus infections crossed the 36,000-mark on Friday as the number of deaths due to the disease climbed to 1,214, authorities said.
This is the first time that over 2,000 cases have been reported in a single day in Delhi.The death toll also increased to 1,214 after 71 more fatalities were reported in the last 24 hours

The death count maintained by the Delhi government has nearly doubled between June 1 and June 11— increasing from 523 to 1,085. But the municipal bodies, which are governed by the BJP, claim 2,098 funerals of Covid-19 positive patients have taken place in the city so far.

As the number of the novel coronavirus cases continue to rise in Delhi, resulting in shortage of hospital beds for patients, people in the capital are now arranging oxygen beds on their own.
