The National Weather Forecasting Centre has issued a 'red colour' warning for Delhi, Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, north Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh as December witnesses a record-breaking cold season. The weather in the national capital dropped to 2.4 degree Celsius and is likely to plunge further.
Delhi: Started today with a season's lowest temperature so far. At 6.10 am, the minimum temperature dropped to 2.4 degree Celsius, said India Meteorological Department (IMD). With the bone-chilling cold, a layer of dense enveloped Delhi today morning and disrupted rail, road and air traffic. Several flights flying in and out of the Delhi international airport have either been delayed or diverted to other nearby airports. The visibility reduced to zero near the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport, said the weather department.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday visited the headquarters of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) in Delhi and reviewed its operational preparedness along the Line of Actual Control with China, official sources said.
