South African speedster Anrich Nortje has been roped in by Delhi Capitals to replace England’s Chris Woakes in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020, scheduled to be held in the UAE from September 19 to November 10.
English all-rounder, Woakes had pulled out of the cash-rich T20 tournament in March due to family commitments after being signed up by the Delhi franchise for $200,000 in the auctions, held in December 2019.

- Russian COVID - 19 vaccine: New Delhi expresses interest as Moscow scouts for mass production in India
India on Tuesday expressed interest in getting Russian COVID vaccine Sputnik V according to a statement. The statement on the website dedicated to the "world's first registered Covid-19 vaccine" lists out India along with 20 other countries that have shown interest in getting the vaccine.
The statement says," At least 20 countries had expressed interest in obtaining the Sputnik V, including UAE, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Philippines, Brazil, Mexico and India."

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday inaugurated the Rashtriya Swachhata Kendra (RSK), a Swachh Bharat Mission interactive experience centre.
The inauguration also coincided with the centenary celebrations of Mahatma Gandhi`s Champaran Satyagraha.
The Rashtriya Swachhata Kendra is situated at Raj Ghat, the samadhi of Mahatma Gandhi.
Modi subsequently watched a short video on `Swachh Bharat Mission` at the Rashtriya Swachhata Kendra.

Around Rs 1.62 crores were provided to the accused of North East Delhi violence before the violence started in February this year, Delhi Police sources said.
Sources said that Rs 1.42 crores were spent on several things including management of 20 protests (Anti-Citizenship Amendment Act protests) at different sites and purchase of weapons.

- With over a million tests and recovery rate nearly at 90%, Delhi offers India hope
India is setting grim milestones each day, but the national capital is giving some positive news amid the gloom as the recovery rate in Delhi is inching closer to 90 per cent.
According to the data by the state health ministry, Delhi on Thursday recorded 1,093 fresh cases in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of infections to 134,403 cases.

- COVID 19: Tamil Nadu 4,538 new cases; Delhi crosses 120,000 mark
The number of coroanvirus cases crossed the 1,000,000 mark on Friday morning as 34,956 fresh cases were recorded on Friday morning.
The death toll rose by 687 in the last 24 hours to an overall tally of 25,602. Overall, the number of total cases and recoveries see their biggest single-day rise in the last 24 hours.
One of the worst affected state is Maharashtra which reported 8,308 new positive cases and 258 deaths. Total number of positive cases rise to 2,92,589 including 1,60,357 recovered cases, 1,20,480 active cases and 11,452 deaths.

Maharashtra on Monday recorded 5,368 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours along with 204 deaths.

Dalai Lama is the spiritual leader of Tibet, he headed the Tibetan government-in-exile in Dharamsala, India.

The name of coronavirus is dreadful enough to shake an entire family.
Mukul Garg's family who lives in New Delhi, however, had a far bigger challenge.
"We knew we would all be positive," the 33-year-old said as 17 people in his family contracted the deadly disease, reports The Washington Post.

New Delhi's largest coronavirus hospital has set up a video calling service via ipads to help patients connect with family members.
The service initiated by Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan (LNJP) in the national capital is expected to provide a major relief to family members, who were earlier complaining that they are being kept completely clueless about the treatment given to the patient and were unable to meet them.

Russia has been in touch with India and China over the situation at the Line of Actual control (LAC), and has welcomed efforts to cool the situation down. Moscow bilaterally has engaged with both "close partners" amidst the tensions over the violent face off at the LAC.
A Russian government source told WION, "Moscow is staying in touch with India and China, appreciating efforts of both partners to de-escalate and offering them to use multilateral platforms to expand the potential for cooperation."

- Coronavirus containment zones in Delhi rise to 445
The deadly coronavirus containment zones in Delhi have risen to 445 on Friday, according to government data.
Of these, 398 areas are active containment zones while 47 have been scaled-down but are yet to be de-contained.
A total of 218 areas have been added to the list of containment zones after June 21. COVID-19 cases in the national capital crossed 92,000 on Thursday.

- Coronavirus cases in Tamil Nadu surge ahead of Delhi as tally mounts to 90,167
Tamil Nadu's COVID-19 count crossed the 90,000 mark with almost 4,000 new cases for the third back to back day on Tuesday and with 60 deaths.
Chennai recorded the most noteworthy single day increment of 2,393 cases and the rest of spread across the state.
While the State capital's aggregate portion of infection cases till date was 58,327, Tamil Nadu's count remained at 90,167.

- NCDC to conduct sero - surveillance study focusing on 20,000 households in Delhi
The National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) is set to conduct a sero-surveillance study in all 11 districts of Delhi focusing on as many as 20,000 households on a random basis including individuals below 18 years of age. The survey is expected to start by this week in the national capital.
A central government panel which was constituted on the directions of the Union Home Minister Amit Shah has recommended complete sero-surveillance in the city to detect the trend of COVID-19 infection in the population of Delhi.

A woman has alleged that her father, who had tested positive for coronavirus, was not admitted in time by a Delhi government hospital -- due to which he died on Thursday.
The authorities have, however, denied the charges.
The woman, Amarpreet Kaur, took to Twitter earlier in the day, saying, "My dad is having high fever. We need to shift him to hospital. I am standing outside LNJP Delhi and they are not taking him in. He is having corona, high fever and breathing problem. He won't survive without help. Pls help."
