- India, Pak water commissioners to meet in Delhi after more than two years
The Indus Water commissioners of India and Pakistan will be meeting on March 23-24 in New Delhi, in the first such talks after more than two-and-half years.
Under the Indus Water Treaty, the commissioners are required to meet annually to discuss issues. The last such meeting happened in Lahore in August 2018.
This month's talks will see both sides sitting with each other for the first time since developments in 2019 such as the Pulwama terror attack and the removal of special status for the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir.

- Afghan foreign minister Atmar to visit Delhi
Even as the Afghan peace process sees a number of developments, the Afghan foreign minister Mohammed Haneef Atmar will be visiting Delhi on March 22.
During the visit, the Afghan FM will hold talks with India's external affairs minister Dr S Jaishankar and call other dignitaries.
The visit comes even as the Biden administration is reviewing the development vis a vis the Afghan peace process. Washington has proposed six countries Afghan talks, including India via the United Nations.

- Delhi`s air quality improves, enters `moderate` category
Delhi`s overall air quality entered the `moderate` category on Tuesday as the city`s Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded at 173, according to the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting And Research (SAFAR).
Yesterday, the national capital had recorded an AQI of 269, in the `poor` category. Areas near Lodhi Road (183), Pusa Road (166) reported moderate air quality today. An AQI between 0-50 is marked good, 51-100 is satisfactory, 101- 200 is moderate, 201- 300 is poor, 301-400 is very poor and 401-500 is considered severe.

- Delhi`s air quality `moderate` due to high surface winds
The air quality of the national capital remained in the `moderate` category on Wednesday due to high surface winds.
This will, however, slow down on Thursday leading to deterioration.
Delhi's air quality index stood at 186 micrograms per cubic meter. AQI within the limit of 0-5 is regarded as good, 51-100 satisfactory, 101-200 moderate, 201-300 very poor and 401-500 is considered severe.

Japan has expressed "regret" after Sri Lanka scrapped 2019 deal with New Delhi and Tokyo for development of Colombo port's East Container Terminal.
A Japanese embassy official in Delhi responding to WION' question, "expressed regret at the unilateral decision taken by Sri Lanka".
Sri Lankan cabinet on Monday unanimously approved that the East terminal of the port will be developed solely by the Sri Lanka Port Authority (SLPA).

- Covid vaccine, border issue discussed during India - Nepal talks in Delhi
The foreign ministers of India and Nepal sat for the sixth round of a joint commission meeting in Delhi on Friday. The meeting saw a key focus being on Covid vaccine, the border issue, and connectivity.
The Indian side assured that Nepal's requirement will be a priority consideration. This happened on a day when Nepal approved India's Covishield vaccine produced by the Serum Institute of India.
Nepal wants 20 per cent or around 12 million doses of Covid vaccines from India.

- Delhi`s air quality remains in `very poor` category
The overall Air Quality Index (AQI) in Delhi remained in the `very poor` category on Monday, according to System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting and Research (SAFAR), which is the Ministry of Earth Science`s air quality monitor.
There has been no relief from air pollution despite the rains in the national capital, the overall AQI stood at 349 early this morning.As per SAFAR, the concentrations of the particulate matter (PM) with a diameter of 10 and 2.5 microns were recorded at 283 (`poor` category) and 183 (`very poor` category) respectively.

- Delhi: 38 UK returnees found positive for COVID; new strain detected in seven patients
Seven persons who recently arrived in Delhi from the UK and tested positive for COVID-19, have been found infected with the new strain of the coronavirus, officials said on Thursday.
Interacting with reporters, earlier in the day, Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain said that a total of 38 people have been found positive since coming to Delhi from the UK recently, and kept in a separate institutional isolation unit on the LNJP Hospital premises.

- Delhi`s AQI improves to `poor` from `very poor` category
Slight relief from air pollution as Delhi`s Air Quality Index (AQI) improved to `poor` from `very poor` category on Tuesday, according to System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting And Research (SAFAR).
The national capital`s overall AQI stands at 280 said Ministry of Earth Science`s SAFAR. India Meteorological Department (IMD) Scientist RK Jenamani on Monday said that the AQI of Delhi will be in the `good` or `poor` category up to January 02.

- Delhi`s air quality turns `severe` again
Delhi's air quality turned 'severe' again on Sunday as high moisture content due to light rains in neighbouring areas made pollutants heavier, weather department officials said.
The city's 24-hour averge air quality index (AQI) was 396, which falls in the "very poor" category. However, it rose to 406 by 10 pm.
The 24-hour average AQI was 337 on Saturday, 357 on Friday, 423 on Thursday, 433 on Wednesday and 418 on Tuesday.

- Two more UK passengers test COVID - 19 positive in Delhi
Two more persons who recently returned to Delhi from the UK, where a super-spreader strain of the coronavirus has been reported, were found to be COVID-19 positive during a door-to-door contact-tracing and testing exercise, officials said on Saturday.
With this, the number of people testing positive for the disease after returning from the UK has gone up to 21 in the national capital. All of them returned from the UK after November 25.

- Coronavirus vaccine doses to arrive in Delhi by December end, says official
Indian capital New Delhi is expected to receive first batch of coronavirus vaccines by the end of December, reported IANS citing quoted by officials of the Rajiv Gandhi Super Speciality Hospital. Cold chain points across the country are remodelling themselves to support storage of COVID-19 vaccine.
BL Sherwal, medical director of the hospital, said that a separate facility in the hospital has been demarcated to store the vaccine doses which are expected to arrive by the month end.

It's been almost eight to nine months since the majority of the offices shifted to 'work from home' as the coronavirus pandemic took over the world and sent countries into nationwide lockdowns.
Now, as the cases started decreasing, some of the offices re-opened the office spaces with 50 per cent capacity. However, the people working for the Delhi government have new 'work-from-home' guidelines now.
