Speaking to our Principal Diplomatic Correspondent Sidhant Sibal, FM Cafiero called for a "dialogue" with UK and pointed that "UNGA designed a mechanism to solve this dispute".

Delhi Capitals spinner Kuldeep Yadav was all praise for skipper Rishabh Pant and said that the youngster is showing signs of MS Dhoni when it comes to his understanding of the game. While DC defeated Punjab Kings in their last game, RR pulled off a hard-fought victory over Kolkata Knight Riders. RR are currently third in the points table with Jos Buttler and Yuzvendra Chahal leading the race for the orange and purple cap respectively. Buttler was once again their best batsman as he slammed his second century in this year’s competition to guide RR to a mammoth total against KKR.

Royal Challengers Bangalore moved to the third spot in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 points table with a hard-fought victory over Delhi Capitals in Mumbai on Saturday. They currently have eight points from six encounters with a slight advantage in the net run rate which is now 0.142. Dinesh Karthik played a brilliant knock after RCB suffered early setbacks to take them to a competitive total at the Wankhede Stadium and a great spell of bowling by Josh Hazlewood clinched them the win. Capitals had a good start to their innings but lost the plot in the middle overs.

The German National Security Advisor, Jens Plötner, who was on a Delhi visit on Wednesday, has hoped that "back filing" of sanctions imposed by his country against Russia will take place. The West, including Germany and the EU, has announced a number of sanctions against Russia since its invasion of Ukraine on February 24th.

Amid criticism by the West, especially from Europe over India buying discounted oil from Russia, sources in Delhi have said that "India's legitimate energy transactions should not be politicised" and "countries with oil self-sufficiency or those importing themselves from Russia cannot credibly advocate restrictive trading".  In the aftermath of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the US had announced that it will ban import of Russian oil, Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) and coal with Europe also emphasising that it will move away from dependency on Russian energy. 

In what can be called a sigh of relief, around 183 Indian citizens, who were stranded in Ukraine, have reached Delhi on Sunday in a special flight.    On Saturday, the flight had departed from Hungary's capital Budapest under ‘Operation Ganga’. It landed at Indira Gandhi International Airport.   The passengers were received by Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav. He also had a discussion with the students.

The German Navy chief VAdm Kay-Achim Schönbach in Delhi has batted for good ties with Russia to rein in China in a remark that goes against the present narrative coming from Europe amid the deteriorating situation in eastern Europe. Speaking at think-tank IDSA, he said, "Does Russia really want a small and tiny strip of Ukraine soil to integrate into the country? No, this is nonsense. Putin is probably putting pressure because he knows he can do it and he splits EU opinion. What he really wants is respect. "

Amid rise in coronavirus cases, the Goa state government on Wednesday imposed new restrictions to combat the virus. Cinema halls and entertainment outlets in Goa were ordered to operate at 50 per cent capacity. Fully vaccinated people and only those with negative COVID-19 certificates will be allowed entry into the state, the local government announced.

Delhi-based Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise didn't retain some top-performing players such as Shikhar Dhawan, ahead of the IPL 2022 mega auction and several critics have highlighted that they could have good options to keep in the squad for the upcoming season. 

Over the years, the Delhi Capitals (DC) have become one of the most consistent sides in IPL history. While the IPL 2020 runners-up would've been eager to retain their core players, the Delhi franchise has gone ahead with four retained players. They are Rishabh Pant, Axar Patel, Prithvi Shaw and Anrich Nortje.  Hence, some big names have been left out of the DC franchise such as Marcus Stoinis, R Ashwin, Avesh Khan, Shikhar Dhawan and their former captain Shreyas Iyer. 

Shreyas Iyer is likely to leave Delhi Capitals (DC) ahead of the new season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2022. The star India batter was replaced as captain by wicket-keeper batter Rishabh Pant for the 2021 season of the league and is keen on looking for a leadership role elsewhere in the IPL. As per a report in the Times of India, Iyer wants a leadership role and is unlikely to get it at Delhi Capitals, who were led to the playoffs by Pant this season. Thus, Iyer will be making himself available in the mega auction that is set to take place ahead of IPL 2022.
