    • Mumbai Real - Estate Growth Overshadows Delhi NCR as per New Analysis
      A study conducted by Knight Frank has revealed that real-estate sales in Mumbai have seen a surge of up to 2-3 times as compared to the Delhi NCR region. Also among the cities that are faring better than NCR are Pune and Bengaluru. It is said that these three regions are seeing an increase in sales as well as investor returns. The study was conducted based on an analysis of the top 8 cities in India.While Mumbai and Pune may be faring somewhat better in the real-estate market when compared to Delhi NCR, these regions aren’t without their problems. Read - Property Rates Are Decreasing In MumbaiThe data also shows that while all eight cities saw the real-estate sales falling dramatically during the lockdown period, Delhi’s market was the worst impacted with 82 per cent decline in new launches year-over-year.Samir Jasuja, founder and managing director at PropEquity said - “Real estate sector which was slowly coming up by March was hit with a complete halt in construction and sales activities by March last week. We may witness resizing of units, discounts, amenities and special payment schemes to be offered by developers to create demand, especially during the upcoming festive season.” Of the total real-estate sales in the top 8 cities, data suggests that Mumbai accounted for 30 per cent. The city also managed to maintain an average of 22-25 per cent sales over the last 10 years. Overall, Mumbai had a share of 31.32 per cent among the 8 cities in the first half of 2020, making it the city’s highest share in 10 years.Farshid Cooper, Managing Director of Spenta Corporation said, “Mumbai and Delhi have always behaved very differently when compared purely on pricing. The pandemic has definitely created a stressful market environment for developers as well as the homebuyers who were actively looking at properties.     • Maharashtra, Delhi, amongst five states to receive the first batch of COVID - 19 drug
      Hetero Drug Limited, which is one of India’s leading pharmaceutical companies, has the approval to manufacture and market the generic version of the experimental COVID-19 drug Remdesivir. The company has sent 20,000 vials to five states which include Maharashtra and Delhi.Both Maharashtra and Delhi happen to be the worst affected states when it comes to the coronavirus. Gujarat and Tamil Nadu are the other two states that will receive the first batch of the drug. The drug Remdesivir is being marketed under the brand name COVIFOR in India.The capital of Hyderabad, Telangana, where the company is based, will also receive the first batch of the drug. The next batch of the drug is to be shipped to Kolkata, Indore, Bhopal, Lucknow, Patna, Bhubaneshwar, Ranchi, Vijayawada, Kochi, Trivandrum and Goa.According to the pharmaceutical company, a 100-milligram vial of the drug will cost ?5,400. The recommended dose for both adults and the paediatric patients are said to be 200 mg on day one followed by a maintenance dose of 100 mg for five days.At the moment, the drug is being manufactured at the company's formulation facility in Hyderabad. The active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) is being made in the firm's Visakhapatnam facility, as per reports by a news agency.The DCGI had earlier approved the generic versions made by Cipla and Hetero for emergency use in severe cases of coronavirus. The treatment was the first to show results in trials conducted on patients suffering from the disease. It has won approval for emergency use in patients from the US, South Korea and has further received full approval in Japan.Maharashtra, which is the worst affected state in the country because of the pandemic can, therefore, use this drug to treat critically ill patients. The state currently has 1,47,738 cases of coronavirus with 70,878 cases in Mumbai only.

    • Mumbai and Delhi account for 40 per cent of the total number of deaths reported in India
      With the daily number of fresh cases approaching the 16000 mark in India in the last 24 hours, the total number of COVID-19 cases has reached 456,183 with 14,476 casualties, 1,83,022 active cases and 2,58,685 recoveries so far. The city of Mumbai and Delhi account for more than 40 per cent of the total number of deaths reported in the country.India witnessed yet another upsurge in the number of fresh cases of coronavirus touching 15,968 in the last 24 hours taking the total number of cases to 4,56,183, with Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and Delhi reporting some of the highest numbers so far.Maharashtra reported 3,214 fresh cases and 248 casualties in the past 24 hours, as the total number of cases crossed 1.39 lakh, the highest in the country. Mumbai accounts for over 1 lakh of the total number of cases in the state, with Mumbai city alone having confirmed 68,410 cases so far with a death toll of 3,844. Along with Delhi, which has witnessed 2,301 deaths to date, Mumbai and Delhi account for more than 40 per cent of the total number of deaths in the country reported due to COVID-19.Delhi alone has confirmed 66,602 positive cases so far as the spread of the coronavirus shows no signs of abetting. This is an alarming situation given the population in both metropolitan areas are among the highest in the country. Among the top ten states with the maximum caseload, Delhi is growing at the fastest rate as the state continues to grapple with high demand for beds and treatment facilities. Although the figures seem to be worsening by the day, the number of recoveries continue to be much higher than the number of active cases in the country.The Union ministry of health has said that the fatality rate for COVID-19 in India is one of the lowest in the world, at one death per one lakh population. This is much lower than the global average of 6.04. The Centre said that this has been made possible because of the cumulative efforts taken by the central and state governments in tackling the spread of the coronavirus.
